The “Silk Road Influencers Beijing Tour” is an international engagement initiative launched by the Beijing Municipal Government’s Information Office in collaboration with International Online. Since its inception in 2016, the event has successfully hosted ten editions, welcoming 125 influencers from 51 countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative. It has served as a vital platform for showcasing Beijing’s openness, hospitality, prosperity, and confidence to the world, effectively presenting the city as a hub of inclusivity, cooperative development, and shared destiny.
Speaking at the launch, Yu Junsheng, Vice Minister of the Beijing Municipal Propaganda Department and Director of the Government Information Office, highlighted Beijing’s rich cultural heritage and its status as one of the first historical and cultural cities in China. He noted that the city is not only the political, cultural, and international communication center of the country but also an innovation hub and the only city to host both the Summer and Winter Olympics. “Today’s Beijing is a rapidly developing city full of opportunities and challenges, attracting dreamers from all over the world,” he said.
Yu also pointed out that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. He expressed hope that influencers participating in this event would share their experiences from Beijing with global audiences, showcasing their unique perspectives and interpretations of China’s modernization, ultimately helping the world to understand and appreciate the city.
Fan Jianping, President of International Online, emphasized that the “Silk Road Influencers Beijing Tour” offers a window for the world to learn about both Beijing and China’s modernization. He described this 10th edition of the event as a significant milestone and a new beginning. “I hope that influencers on this ‘aesthetic’ journey will truly experience Beijing’s charm and relay authentic, vibrant, and heartfelt stories about China to the world.”
Among the participants is Lucas Eliott Rio Fernandes from Brazil, a journalist and television presenter at Globo TV, as well as a social media influencer. Having begun his global journey in China in 2010, he returned to witness the incredible changes over the past 14 years. “Many people still have misconceptions about this country, but I believe that China is a destination everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime,” he remarked during his speech.
The tour will run from October 21 to 25, featuring visits to key cultural facilities in Beijing’s sub-center, the Zhongguancun (Yizhuang) International Robot Industry Park, the Gongti Metaverse Center, the Forbidden City, the Olympic Tower, and Shougang Park, among others. Participants will experience the harmonious blend of Beijing’s ancient charm and contemporary achievements.
