San Jose cracks down on underage gang crimes, arrests multiple armed robbers

San Jose police recently made significant progress in a gang-related crime investigation involving minors, resulting in multiple arrests; however, one suspect remains at large. Authorities confirm that they are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the remaining fugitive.

On the evening of July 24, at approximately 8:24 PM, the San Jose Police Department received a report of an armed robbery in the 2200 block of Eastridge Loop. Two unidentified male suspects approached a teenage victim, knocked him down, and forcibly seized his gold necklace. During the incident, the suspects displayed gang symbols and shouted gang-related insults as they fled the scene.

The investigation revealed a link between this robbery and a gang operating in the Gilroy area. Further inquiries showed that this group had been involved in a series of armed robberies in San Jose and surrounding regions between July and August. Initially targeting rival gang members, the suspects later expanded their focus to include other victims, brandishing firearms and knives during several of the robberies.

Through their investigation, officers identified five suspects connected to at least five armed robbery cases: Dominic Vaca, Timothy Zambrano, Matthew Flores, a minor, and Alexis Orozco, who is still on the run.

After obtaining arrest and search warrants, police executed their operation in Gilroy. Vaca was apprehended on August 16, the minor on August 31, Flores on September 15, and Zambrano on October 3. Currently, Vaca, Flores, and Zambrano are being held at the Santa Clara County Jail, while the minor has been placed in a county juvenile detention facility. Authorities continue their search for the fugitive Orozco.
