The 18th Hubei·Wuhan Taiwan Week signed contracts exceeding 17.1 billion yuan

The 18th Hubei-Wuhan Taiwan Week kicked off on October 26 in Wuhan, featuring 46 signed projects totaling 17.121 billion RMB across various sectors, including optoelectronics, new energy vehicles, vocational education, cultural tourism, biomedicine, smart manufacturing, modern agriculture, advanced materials, and energy conservation.

The event was jointly hosted by the Hubei Provincial Government and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council. Approximately 800 participants attended the opening ceremony, including key figures from the Cross-Strait Entrepreneurs Summit, business leaders from organizations such as the Taiwan Industrial Association and the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association, along with grassroots representatives and young people from Taiwan.

Li Zhenghong, president of the National Association of Taiwan Enterprises, emphasized Hubei’s strategic geographic location and its concentration of intellectual resources. He pointed out that Hubei is a major manufacturing province with a distinctive optoelectronics industry and leading capabilities in commercial aerospace and cybersecurity. He expressed that the variety of industry matching activities during Taiwan Week would help Taiwanese businesspeople better understand Hubei’s development and identify collaborative opportunities.

Scheduled to last four days, this Taiwan Week includes three main components—economic and trade cooperation, grassroots exchanges, and youth interactions—comprising 14 activities in total. The main venue is in Wuhan, with branch venues in Yichang, Xiangyang, and Huangshi.

Focused on Hubei’s leading industries such as optoelectronics, new energy and smart connected vehicles, and biomedicine, the event will host industry matchmaking sessions and forums designed to promote complementary advantages and cooperative gains between Hubei and Taiwan. Additionally, there will be a seminar explaining policies for Taiwan-funded enterprises to list on the mainland, featuring industry experts to provide policy insights and guidance for business expansion.

Furthermore, there will be initiatives for employee exchanges, community governance discussions, and activities aimed at fostering interaction and integration among grassroots citizens from both sides. Youth-oriented programs including teacher exchanges, innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, and a fashion creativity festival will create a platform for young people to collaborate and learn from each other.

The Hubei-Wuhan Taiwan Week serves as a comprehensive platform for deepening the economic and social integration between Hubei and Taiwan. Recent statistics indicate that by the third quarter of 2024, Hubei has registered a total of 3,124 Taiwan-invested enterprises with a total investment of 36.264 billion USD.
