Beijing releases third-quarter salary status report, digital economy and other industries’ income rises

On October 18, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security released its “2024 Beijing Human Resource Market Wage Status Report (Q3).” The report reveals that the median monthly salaries in the intelligent/high-end manufacturing, digital economy, and software and information services sectors stand at 13,299 CNY, 14,929 CNY, and 14,297 CNY, respectively, showing notable year-on-year growth.

The report indicates that salary levels in the Beijing market remained stable during the third quarter, with most key industries experiencing slight month-to-month increases in their median monthly salaries. In terms of job functions, frontline operational/service personnel reported a median monthly salary of 6,802 CNY, which has maintained a leading year-on-year growth for three consecutive quarters.

As Beijing’s manufacturing sector undergoes a transformation towards high-end, intelligent, and green development, there is a significant demand for specialized and technically skilled talent, leading to steady salary growth. The report reveals that the median monthly salary for professional and technical personnel reached 12,563 CNY in Q3, with high-skilled individuals earning a median salary exceeding 10,000 CNY. Specifically, the median salaries for senior technicians, technicians, and highly skilled personnel were 12,504 CNY, 11,349 CNY, and 11,029 CNY, respectively.

Highlighting the latest data from China’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, which was released in July, the report notes that the median monthly salary for cybersecurity assessment professionals exceeds 22,000 CNY. Additionally, median salaries for positions such as intelligent connected vehicle testers, intelligent vehicle adjustment and maintenance workers, and intelligent manufacturing system operators all surpass 10,000 CNY.

For clarity, the salary statistics in the report are based on the total pre-tax salary disbursed each month during Q3, including basic salary, performance pay, bonuses, sales commissions, and related allowances, but excluding year-end bonuses, equity incentives, and dividends.
