On October 23, the onset of the Frost’s Descent solar term marks a significant shift in the weather patterns across Heilongjiang Province, as cold air masses move southward with increased frequency. The days are warm, but the mornings and evenings are notably chilly, creating a considerable temperature difference between day and night. For the people of Heilongjiang, this effectively signals the arrival of winter in meteorological terms.
As reported by the Heilongjiang Provincial Meteorological Bureau, the weather forecast for today indicates a mix of conditions. In the northwestern part of the Greater Khingan Range, clouds are expected to give way to flurries. Meanwhile, regions in the eastern parts of Jiamusi, Shuangyashan, and Jixi will see overcast skies with moderate rain transitioning to rain mixed with snow. Central Jiamusi, western Shuangyashan, Qitaihe, western Jixi, and Mudanjiang will experience light rain changing to snow, with the mountainous areas of Qitaihe and Mudanjiang expecting moderate snowfall at times. Other areas will enjoy mostly clear to partly cloudy skies.
During the day, the maximum temperatures vary across the region: the Greater Khingan Range will reach lows of 1°C to 3°C, while eastern Heilongjiang, including Heihe, Yichun, Qitaihe, Jixi, and the eastern parts of Mudanjiang, will experience temperatures between 3°C and 5°C. Other areas will see highs around 7°C to 9°C.
At night, temperatures will dip significantly. Northern regions of the Greater Khingan Range could plummet to between -16°C and -14°C, with the southern parts, Heihe, and other areas dropping to -9°C to -7°C. Northern Yichun, Qiqihar, northern Suihua, and eastern Harbin are expected to see temperatures between -5°C and -3°C, while other regions will vary from -2°C to 0°C.
Additionally, winds in eastern Heilongjiang may reach gusts of 6 to 7 on the Beaufort scale, with localized areas potentially experiencing gusts up to level 8, prompting officials to advise residents to take necessary precautions.
