Asian lawyer in New York tried to abduct and sexually assault a young girl and was sentenced to 10 years in prison

In a recent case that has garnered significant attention, Tong Hyun Suh, an Asian lawyer from New York, has been sentenced to ten years in prison for attempting to sexually exploit a minor. The incident occurred in 2022 when Suh initiated contact through the social media platform Kik with a profile claiming to be a 14-year-old girl. Unbeknownst to him, his online interaction was with an undercover police officer posing as the minor.

According to court documents, Suh reached out to the account named “Megan” on April 24, 2022. The account claimed to be a teenage girl residing in Greenwich, Connecticut. Suh, who introduced himself as a Korean-American lawyer born in 1977, expressed his desire to meet Megan and engage in sexual activity.

During their exchanges, Suh revealed his disturbing views, stating that he found the age difference “sexually appealing” and expressed a desire for a “young submissive girl.” He even requested explicit photographs. As the conversations escalated, Suh made plans to travel to Connecticut to meet Megan, using highly explicit language and suggesting activities such as oral sex and filming adult content together. In response, Megan provided him with an address and insisted that he arrive equipped with a condom, a lollipop, and marijuana.

On May 27, 2022, when Suh arrived at the address given to him, he was arrested by local police who had been monitoring the situation. Upon his arrest, officers found marijuana, a lollipop, and six condoms in his possession. It was revealed that Suh was a licensed attorney in New York with nearly 20 years of professional experience and operated a law firm in the Bronx.

Suh was charged with attempted sexual exploitation of a minor in 2022 and pleaded guilty on March 19, 2023. He was sentenced by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in White Plains to ten years in prison, followed by an additional ten years of supervised release.
