Beijing Gold Lacquer Mosaic Art Museum Harbin Exhibition Center Unveiled to Promote Cultural Exchanges between the two places
On October 13, the inauguration ceremony for the Beijing Jinqi Inlay Art Museum’s Harbin Display Center took place at the Harbin Museum. The event was themed “Uniting Hearts and Efforts, Crafting Heritage into a New Chapter.”
China has a rich lacquer art history spanning 8,000 years, with gold lacquer inlay being one of its traditional specialties, historically used by royalty and reaching significant development during the Yuan Dynasty. Beijing has long been a pivotal lacquer production region, with royal institutes such as the Yuan Dynasty Paint Bureau and the Ming Dynasty Fruit Orchard Factory laying a solid technical foundation for the evolution of Beijing lacquerware.
The ceremony was organized by Beijing Jinqi Inlay Co., Ltd., and Harbin Qiyi Star Technology Development Co., Ltd., with the Beijing Jinqi Inlay Art Museum and Harbin Museum’s Gold Lacquer Art Museum co-hosting the event.
In a statement, Bai Qun, the Director of the China Arts and Crafts Association’s Lacquerware Professional Committee and founder of the Beijing Jinqi Inlay Art Museum, remarked that the establishment of the Harbin Display Center represents a significant achievement in cultural exchange and integration between Jinqi inlay art and Longjiang culture.
Fu Qingquan, President of the Heilongjiang Province Arts and Crafts Association, emphasized the collaboration between the Beijing Jinqi Inlay Art Museum and the Harbin Museum’s Gold Lacquer Art Museum. He noted that this partnership aims to promote traditional Chinese culture and deepen cultural and artistic cooperation between the two regions. He added that this initiative not only extends traditional lacquer art but also marks an important milestone for the arts and crafts sector in Heilongjiang Province.
The formal establishment of the Harbin Display Center enhances the exchange and collaboration between the non-material cultural heritage exhibitions in Beijing and Harbin. It highlights the steadfast commitment and proactive efforts of the Beijing Jinqi Inlay Art Museum in promoting the protection, inheritance, and innovative development of intangible cultural heritage, while showcasing the vibrant energy of Harbin Museum’s Gold Lacquer Art Museum in advancing cultural and artistic endeavors.
The display center features a variety of exceptional gold lacquer inlay artworks, including screens, plaques, utensils, ornaments, and furniture, all showcasing exquisite craftsmanship and innovative designs, fully illustrating the brilliance and charm of this ancient art form.
