Curry and his wife appeared in the US Open finals. Landlord Pigula’s husband is his biggest fan

As the U.S. Open reaches its final stages, the women’s singles final drew a star-studded crowd, including NBA gold medalist Stephen Curry, track and field sensation Noah Lyles, and Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton. One of the highlights of the event was Jessica Pegula, the local favorite who reached the finals, sharing a heartwarming story about her husband and Curry.

Curry and his wife made a memorable appearance at Flushing Meadows, where they watched Pegula compete against Belarusian powerhouse Aryna Sabalenka. Despite finishing as the runner-up, Pegula expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to play in front of such distinguished guests. “It was an honor to look up and see so many familiar faces in the crowd,” she noted.

Pegula also shared an inspiring moment from last month’s Paris Olympics, recounting how she drew strength from Curry. “It’s a funny story,” she began. “My husband’s iPhone is named ‘Curry’ because he is such a huge fan. So whenever you connect via Bluetooth or try to AirDrop something to him, it shows up as ‘Curry’s Phone.’” She laughed as she recounted her husband’s excitement upon learning that the real Curry was in attendance. “I told him to make sure he mentioned the phone thing. He replied, ‘Of course I did! I think it’s pretty cool.’”

Her husband later relayed that Curry got a kick out of the anecdote, prompting Pegula to jokingly ask, “Really? Or does he think you’re crazy? I figure he finds it quite amusing.”

On the sidelines, Lyles, who secured both gold medals in the 100m and 200m at last year’s World Athletics Championships and clinched the gold in the 100m at this year’s Olympics, was also in attendance alongside Hamilton. The duo certainly added to the star power of the event.
