Heihe has a bumper harvest of corn on 7 million acres, and the grains are piled into -golden mountains-

On October 17, Heihe City in Heilongjiang Province was bustling with the sights and sounds of a bountiful harvest. Farmers were busy collecting their corn from the 7 million acres of fields, ensuring that every kernel found its way to storage, creating impressive mounds of golden grains.

During a recent visit to the Jiaxing Modern Agricultural Machinery Cooperative in the Aihui District, I observed the vibrant corn fields, where the crops showcased plump, golden kernels. “Using large combine harvesters makes the fall harvest especially convenient,” said farmer Ge Yongzhi. “They allow for direct separation of stalks and grains.”

As the machines roared, large harvesters efficiently gathered six rows of corn, pulling in both the corn and stalks. The combine’s cutting platform expertly separated the grains, while the kernels cascaded like a waterfall from the unloading chute, completing the process seamlessly.

The head of crop management at the Heihe Municipal Agricultural and Rural Affairs Bureau, Liang Xin, shared, “In 2024, Heihe has planted over 7 million acres of corn. To date, we’ve harvested 50% of the crop, which is 10% ahead of last year. Our goal is to ensure that we collect everything and store every kernel.”
