Just six days after taking office, a Mexican mayor was beheaded and his head was -placed on the roof of a car.-
In a recent interview, we uncovered the shocking details surrounding the murder of Alejandro Arcos, the newly elected mayor of Chilpancingo, Guerrero, Mexico. Tragically, just six days into his administration, Arcos was brutally killed on October 6. Reports reveal that his severed head was placed on the roof of a pickup truck, a horrific act that underscores the audacity of his assailants.
Guerrero’s Governor, Evelyn Salgado, has confirmed the circumstances surrounding Arcos’s death and stated that an investigation is underway, as detailed by the local attorney general’s office.
Prior to Salgado’s announcement, unsettling images began circulating on WhatsApp, reportedly showing Arcos’s head atop a vehicle. However, at the time of reporting, the authenticity of these images could not be verified.
Local news outlets, such as El Universal and Proceso, reported that witnesses discovered Arcos’s head on the truck in the afternoon of October 6, while his body was found in the driver’s seat. Notably, this tragic event followed the murder of Francisco Tapia, the newly appointed city hall secretary, just three days earlier.
This wave of violence highlights the serious security challenges plaguing Mexico, particularly in Guerrero, a state notorious for its high levels of danger. In the lead-up to the elections on June 2, at least six candidates for public office were reported murdered in the region.
