The 6th Central Conservatory of Music 10·15 Art Festival will kick off

The Central Conservatory of Music recently held a press conference to announce the upcoming “Decade of Excellence: The 6th Central Conservatory of Music 10.15 Arts Festival,” which will take place from October 15 to 31 in cities including Beijing, Yan’an, Jinan, Changchun, and Xiamen, as well as in Austria and Slovakia. This event is co-hosted by the Central Conservatory of Music, the Department of Arts of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the municipal government of Xiamen.

During the conference, representatives highlighted a series of engaging activities planned for the festival. These include performances like “Ode to the New Era and Marching Forward on a New Journey,” “Hearing Contemporary China—Central Conservatory of Music’s European Contemporary Works Concert,” a showcase of outstanding artistic talent, a seminar on “Chinese Literary Critique in the Past Decade,” and various music concerts celebrating traditional Chinese instruments. The festival will also feature initiatives like the “Fishing Project” for national rural music teacher training, the 2024 Xiamen International Piano Competition, and the first National Arts Volunteer Service Conference.

The festival will officially kick off on October 15 in Beijing with a grand concert titled “Ode to the New Era and Marching Forward on a New Journey,” showcasing original symphonic works that reflect the grandeur of the new era. It aims to reach audiences in Austria and Slovakia through a themed presentation titled “Hearing Contemporary China,” featuring new symphonic and chamber music compositions from six composers at the Conservatory’s Music Creation Center. This initiative seeks to project Chinese voices on the global stage and contribute positively to the international appreciation of Chinese culture.

Additionally, the festival emphasizes talent cultivation and focuses on international events. It will unite forces with several esteemed institutions, including the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Central Academy of Drama, National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts, and Beijing Dance Academy, as well as the Chinese Association of Literary Critics, to nurture a new generation of culturally grounded and artistically skilled talents. Events like the “Youth Excellence—Concert of Award-Winning Students from the Central Conservatory of Music” and the “Outstanding Innovative Talent Concert” will showcase recent accomplishments in talent development.

In addition to activities in Beijing, there will be related events held in Yan’an, Jinan, Changchun, and Xiamen, fully exploring new ideas and measures for “Art for the People.” The festival seeks to honor the responsibility of preserving and promoting outstanding traditional Chinese culture, lead art education into a new era, cultivate well-rounded artistic professionals, and empower art education to revitalize rural areas while enhancing the influence of Chinese civilization.
