Top international breakdancers compete for the China Finals championship in Ningbo, Zhejiang

On October 27, in Beilun District of Ningbo, renowned dance expert Pan Yu, a standing member of the Street Dance Committee of the China Dancers Association and leader of the Zhejiang Street Dance Alliance, shared his insights during an interview. “In recent years, we have noticed a significant incorporation of Chinese elements in award-winning performances at international street dance competitions. We hope this event serves as a platform to share the richness of Chinese traditional culture with the world through street dance.”

The occasion marked the 2024 Boty World Street Dance Championship’s Chinese finals, held in Mingshan Bay, Beilun. The judges featured 22 b-boy champions from nine countries, while top street dancers from China, Brazil, France, Thailand, and others competed for the championship title.

“Art is a bridge that transcends borders and connects people,” Pan emphasized. This event is widely regarded as the “Olympics of grassroots street dance,” serving as a crucial platform for cultural exchange among youth from different countries.

To create an immersive experience celebrating street dance culture and to foster international friendships, the organizers also hosted various activities during the finals, including a public training camp featuring Chinese and foreign street dance masters and a graffiti art exhibition titled “Discovering Beauty in China: Dance Meets Huaxia.”

“We are committed to positioning ourselves as a coastal metropolitan hub and an ecological industrial port,” a representative from the Mingshan Bay Tourism and Resort Area stated. “With a focus on ‘sports + social interaction,’ our goal is to create more activities that resonate with the public. In the future, we will continue to promote the deep integration of sports and cultural tourism, allowing citizens and visitors to appreciate the beauty of seaside activities, the ecological environment, and coastal charm through their participation in sports.”
