Xiaomi’s smart driving technology breakthrough, Lei Jun’s preview will be released
During an interview at the 2024 World Smart Connected Vehicle Conference, Xiaomi Group Chairman Lei Jun announced that the company will unveil significant breakthroughs in smart driving technology. He highlighted that Xiaomi plans to invest approximately 24 billion yuan (around 3.37 billion USD) in research and development this year, with projections exceeding 30 billion yuan next year.
Lei emphasized that Xiaomi’s goal is to enter the top tier of smart driving by the end of this year, promising to share updates and advancements in this area very soon.
Since the launch of deliveries on April 3, 2023, Xiaomi’s SU7 has seen a total of 69,790 units delivered by September 30, consistently exceeding 13,000 units per month for four consecutive months, securing its position as the leading large electric sedan in sales.
The peak delivery month was June, with 14,296 units delivered. However, reaching a target of 20,000 deliveries in October presents a significant challenge for Xiaomi’s manufacturing capacity.
Current data from the Xiaomi Car app reveals that customers who ordered the SU7 can expect wait times ranging from 21 to 28 weeks, meaning it could take up to six months to receive their vehicles.
Among the different models, the SU7 Max is expected to be delivered faster, within 21 to 24 weeks; the Pro version has a delivery timeframe of 22 to 25 weeks; while the standard version may take the longest, with an estimated wait of 25 to 28 weeks.
