Zelensky- The situation on the battlefield -creates opportunities- for an armistice in 2025
During a press conference on October 9 in Dubrovnik, Croatia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed optimism about the current situation on the battlefield, suggesting that it has “created opportunities” for Ukraine to take decisive actions aimed at ending the war by 2025 at the latest.
Speaking at the Ukraine-South East Europe summit, Zelensky stated, “In October, November, and December, we have an opportunity to steer the situation toward peace and long-term stability. The dynamics on the battlefield have opened avenues for us to make this choice—a choice to take decisive action to end the war by 2025.”
However, Zelensky did not elaborate on what specific opportunities he perceives or why he believes such a chance exists, especially considering that Russian forces currently control nearly 20% of Ukrainian territory in the eastern and southern regions.
